LHNE HISTORY
In 1995, a group devoted to starting a Lutheran High School in Norfolk formed the Lutheran High School Association of Northeast Nebraska (LHSANN). Late in 1996, the 40-acre site which the school is currently located was acquired. Ground breaking for the first stage of the current building took place in June of 1997.

Lutheran High Northeast officially opened in August, 1997, holding classes at Grace Lutheran Church and Christ Lutheran School.  There were 31 students in grades 9-10.  By the 1999-2000 school year, LHNE had over 80 students enrolled in grades 9-12 and the first senior class of 22 students graduated in May. In the next 10 years enrollment grew to 156 students in 2009-2010 and the LHSANN association grew to include 22 LCMS congregations within a 45-mile radius of Norfolk. Further additions to the original building were completed in 2001, 2005, and 2010.

Through the years, LHNE has been able to increase the opportunities and programs for the students while continuing to offer a challenging, well-rounded education.  Students continue to be encouraged to become involved and use and develop their God-given gifts to the best of their ability.  The excellent instructional staff sees to the academic needs of the students while encouraging social growth and character development.  However, as a Christian school, we are able to take an active role and partner with the church and our families to see to the student’s spiritual growth.  This is why Lutheran High Northeast was formed.

Throughout its history, Lutheran High Northeast has been greatly supported by generous families who understand the importance and benefit of Christian education.  This generosity has not only made the three additions possible, but has been an ongoing blessing to keep the tuition amount well below the actual cost per student.

The faculty and staff of Lutheran High Northeast will continue to serve the students of Northeast Nebraska with commitment and enthusiasm, and will strive to educate, develop and prepare Christian servants and leaders for the future.  God has certainly blessed the mission and ministry of Lutheran High Northeast, and we hope you will become part of the Eagle family as well.
